Beginning a new school year is tough, especially when you're in college. Finding classes, meeting new people, new teachers, new everything... For some, it's scary and can be intimidating, but for others it can be exhilarating. Depending on the way that you look at college it can be scary or fun or both. You never know. There are some favorite all around parts of the start of a new year.
1. New Experiences
Everything is new and exciting when you're in a different place. The best part, though, is the different opportunities that arise. In college there's new clubs, new events, and new sports teams that you get to enjoy. Everything is a new adventure which is one of the most exhilarating parts of college. So get out there and explore!
2. New Clothes
Now let's be serious, new clothes aren't anything to die over but this is the start of a new person. Your style can just help show people who you are as well as add to your fashion sense. You can be whoever you would like to be in college, and starting it off with some new trendy clothes is a good way to start.
3. New School Materials
Honestly, who doesn't like buying new school materials? All the pens, pencils, binders, notebooks, etc. Get this though, in college there is so much more that you need! You have to supply your dorm room, make it into whatever you would like it to be! It's twice the fun and it is so awesome to be able to have something that is truly made for you! Glam it up people, show some individuality!
4. New People
This one is a scary one, definitely. Only because everybody is used to who they grow up with and who they were friends with their entire lives. If you move 2000 miles away from your family and friends to start a new life, then you don't really have an option but to just introduce yourself to some people and see where it goes! It's hard and uncomfortable but everybody is in the same spot as you are and it all works out in the end. Don't be discouraged, get out there and mingle!
5. New You
Knowing who you are is one of the hardest concepts someone will understand. That is why college is so great, because you get to truly redefine yourself into who you want to be. Not what society wants you to be, but who you truly are as a person. You make your own path and live with your own decisions. Meet new friends, make memories, laugh, cry, melt down from finals. All the same, it is a part of your journey and therefore a part of you. Don't miss your chance to start over!
All in all, college is a great new way to start over and create your new life. Don't be afraid to get out there and show people who you are along with what you are capable of. Be your individualistic self and you'll be fine!
