Unless you live under a rock, you know about good ole Matthew by this point. If you are a college student on the coast of South Carolina, you’ve probably gone through these stages of dealing with Hurricane Matthew. Actually, if you’re dealing with Matthew in general, then let "New Girl" explain all of your complicated feelings. Stay safe and play True American.
1. You first hear about Hurricane Matthew.
AGAIN WITH THE HURRICANES? I mean, everything is fine for now. Might as well stock up on bread and milk just in case. Bring it, Matthew, we ain't scared.
2. The Weather Channel continues to update you over the next couple of days.
It’s supposed to definitely hit the east coast, but so did Hermine, so we’re still good. Right?
3. You find out Matthew is a category 4.
Slight Panic.
4. “Nikki Haley is having a press conference at 3 p.m.”
What. Like we’re fine, guys. Right? Right? I mean the press conference is just a precautionary measure, right?
5. You get that email saying classes are cancelled for the rest of the week.
BYYEEE. Must prepare immediately for the apocalypse.
6. Your mother’s boss’s best friend’s sister and everyone in between calls to make sure you’re evacuating.
Yes, Barbara, I am fine. I'm freakin' out, but I'm good.
7. You run home to pack and say goodbye to your room.
How much do I need to pack? Is it cold at home? I should take my favorite dress just in case Matthew ruins it? Should I put all my stuff in a bubble so it doesn't get ruined? When will I be back? Bye, sh*tty dorm mattress and thin walls, it’s been a good year.
8. You sit in traffic for hours on end, but it’s ok because you’ve got your best friends and Rhianna to keep you company.
Work, work, work, work, etc.
9. You finally get home and give a sigh of relief as you cuddle your dog.
Suck it, Matthew.
10. You sit around checking the weather every hour and procrastinating on school work you know you have time for but just don’t want to do.
This is like an early fall break, so school is irrelevant.
