It's that time of the year; everyone is over their classes for the semester. You're not motivated to do anything since doing homework and studying is the last thing you want to do. As a college sophomore, it is my fourth semester in college. I sort of have the feel of what's going on, but I still am completely lost in what I want to do with my life. Thinking about the fact that I'm at the halfway point in my college career is the most terrifying thing in the world. I just want to stay in college forever, but I don't think my loan company or my wallet would be able to handle it.
Midterms have come and gone, and my grades are not as good as they should be. I'm regretting all the times this semester I thought it was a great idea to watch Netflix instead of study, or "only go out for a little bit" instead of getting a good night's sleep. The so-called "sophomore slump" is the realist thing. Let me tell you. What better TV show to compare stress, workload, and drama to college than ABC's "Greys Anatomy"? We all can relate, specifically us sophomores, just trying to get by.
The thought of going to class just has us like
And when your family asks how classes are going, we can't even think of the words to say
When you have to choose between studying for that big test on Monday or going out with your friends
But then you hate yourself for not studying when you get to the exam
When your friends can tell you didn't get your daily nap and your mood really shows it
The thought that you are halfway done with college and you actually have to go adult in two years is the most terrifying thing imaginable
What, I need an internship? 200 level+ classes? A real job? What are job benefits? Am I supposed to know what all of this means?
You need to get your head out of your butt and actually try and get decent grades this semester.
You're so stressed, you don't even know how you're going to finish the next six weeks.
If someone even utters the F-word (finals), I might explode.
When you stop and think, how could we have gotten this far in college without our best friends by our side?
Even if we are feeling stressed, just know that you always pull it together and will get through this semester just fine.
We are really blessed because we still have 2 years left to live it up, making the best memories, before it's time to grow up for real.
We might not have our life together yet, but that's the beauty of sophomore year. At least we're not seniors. We still have two more years to get our crap together, so we might as well live it up while we can. But, we can't forget about the reason we are here, we have to get our sh*t together and get the grades. Here's to finishing out this hell of a semester, and bring on summer '17!
