We've all had that song, or a lot of those songs. You've played it so many times that the lyrics are bouncing around endlessly in your head, even when you're not listening to it. Sometimes there's just one line with embedded meaning, playing over and over, background noise to the rest of the world. Sometimes you just love the whole song; love it for the lyrics, for the beat, for the melody, for the guitar solo. Whatever it is, you love it, and you can't resist going back to the beginning just one more time.
A lot of different songs can have different meanings to different people, helping them and motivating them through any kind of situation. There are breakup songs, "I'm feeling down today" songs, new songs that are catchy and fun to listen to, "I'm mad at the world" songs, songs that make you feel like you can do anything in the world, "this song is so good I just can't stop listening to it" songs, songs so filled with meaning that you can't hear even one line without your head swimming with memories from times passed. All of these are reasons to put a song on repeat, to listen to it so many times the lyrics become ingrained in your brain.
That's kind of what music is for. Music can be about passing time; listening to something nice in the background, something so nice you just need to listen to it a million times. But music can also be filled with meaning, meaning you can relate to and understand, meaning you want to feel each of the many, many times you listen to the song. Listening to music can be a way to release emotions, a way to relax, a way to feel better, and when one song helps you accomplish what you need, why not play that song and nothing else. Sure, you might get a little tired of it after a while, but until then, its really great to listen to.
Whether your music of choice is country or the latest EDM, music is good for the soul. Sometimes you'll put a song on repeat for an hour, sometimes for days on end. Take no shame. Sing it in the shower. Blast it on your speakers, even if you feel like someone else might judge you after they've heard it for the 700th time. Because right now, that song is your anthem. And sometimes you need an anthem.
