If you've ever been to a music festival, you've definitely found yourself surrounded by hundreds of strangers. These hundreds of strangers may all look different, but they all fit in one of these categories:
1. The Dedicated Fan
This person has their set list in hand at all times. The watch around their wrist keeps them moving after every song. They'll be at the front of the stage passionately screaming every line in every song. Horns up in the air screaming for an encore. If you need to know who's playing when, ask them!
2. The Stoner
This person is usually easier to smell than see. You'll find them in the crowd bobbing their heads talking about how much they love life and everyone around them... or asking silly questions.
3. The Hype Guy/Girl
This person is usually screaming whether necessary or not. They are begging all their friends to hurry up to make it to the next set all while jabbering about how excited they are. They also may or may not be encouraging more alcohol consumption while jumping up and down screaming "It's lit!"
4. The "I'm only here because my friends asked me to come" person
They've probably spent the majority of every set on their phone texting other people or looking up who the band is. Standing quietly in the crowd nodding their head through each song, they may be regretting agreeing to go, but at least, it's a photo op.
5. The person who overdid it
These people are the easiest to spot. Check the edges of tents to find the guy/girl whose friends are still going strong, but they might think they can taste colors. Their head is between their legs or they are looking straight ahead seemingly horrified by the vendor next to them. Someone bring this kid some water.
6. The "I F*cking Love Concerts" patron
These people are perhaps the best (and I'm not just saying that because this is my category!). They love every aspect of the events around them. You might want to put your hands up to help them crowd surf before they fall on your head. Look out for them in the mosh pit. They are way too hype to be running in a circle. They make it to every band that they love and some they don't — just to enjoy the energy. Don't fear their crazy antics, they'll hoist you up on top of the crowd too and make sure you make it out alive!
Whichever person you may be, remember concert and festival goers, have a blast! And don't forget your exit buddy!
