The Sister I Never Had

Reasons why I love my roomie.

The Sister I Never Had
Pierce Bijeau

I never imagined that I would end up meeting someone who meant as much to me as my roommate in only three months.

1. She makes me work out.

Most of you know that I am very lazy and cherish my cookie pouch but she makes me workout and I couldn't be happier that she cares about my well-being as well as her own. And we also can't stop laughing the whole time which is also great.

2. She takes stupid selfies with me.

3. She makes me dinner.

Yes, she's wifey material. She's a fantastic cook.

4. She yells at me in her sleep.

Jamie yelled at me in her sleep the second night of us rooming together. Now she just does it during the day. Yay me!

5. She helps me with my articles.

I usually don't have any idea of what I'm going to write about until Friday night at 9 o'clock. She actually made a joke today that I should write an article about her... little does she know that that's exactly what I'm doing.

6. She is in the process of teaching me how to dance.

I have less rhythm than a uncooked noodle. So to save us both the embarrassment at the clubs we never go to, she is teaching me how to dance; or trying to.

7. She makes sure to turn the heat up at night when she knows it blows right in my face and wakes me up at night panicking.

I'm not sure why exactly she does this. It may be intentional to be "funny." But it is not.

8. She lets me know when I did a poor job at dressing myself.

I can usually get away with the way I poorly dress myself, but not when Jamie is around. No, no. She won't walk around with me if I don't match.

9. She is not afraid to make fun of me.

And let me tell you. She has more embarrassing pictures of me than anyone. But does she hold that over my head? Yes, she does.

10. She is the best roommate I've ever had.

And I honestly don't know what I'd do without her.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
