Jesse Pomeroy, 14-year-old serial killer
Pomeroy was one of the first confirmed child serial killers. He had an eye that was clouded, glossed over and appeared marble-like. This, today, is what we would call a cataract. His eye was the source of his anger. He was bullied because of it, even by his own father who would strip him down naked and whip him like a slave; additionally his eye was also his source of identification and ultimately how he was caught.
With the anger boiling inside of him, Jesse began torturing animals and young people. He finally committed murder at age 14. He burned a young boy, mutilated he genitals, slit his throat, stabbed him numerous times, and put a sharp object through his eye.
Willie James Bosket Jr., 15
They say he was one of New York’s most dangerous inmates. He allegedly committed over 2,000 crimes, and he committed his first confirmed murder by the ripe age of 15. His first murder was a double homicide. He attempted to rob someone that led to the death of two adult men. Because of his age, he spent only 5 years in prison. There was such a public outcry after his sentence that the Willie Bosket Law was created to allow kids as young as 13 to be tried and sentenced as adults.
Mary Flora Bell, 11
She casually turned 51 this year, with two loving grandsons, Mary Flora Bell was 11 years old when she strangled not one, but two 4-year-old boys to death “solely for the pleasure and excitement“ of killing. In 1968, Martin Brown was found. A few months later, 3-year-old Brian Howe suffered the same fate. Although there were previously two different suspects. The police narrowed it down to Mary because she had a history of attacking other children. Freed in 1980, she created a new identity and won a court ruling to protect her anonymity and that of her daughter and grandchildren.
Edmund Kemper, 15
The child necro-phile, Edmund Kemper, is one of America’s most infamous serial killers. He enjoyed torturing animals, and similar to many others, had a troubling relationship with his mother. His first murder was committed at age 15. Kemper shot both grandparents while staying the night at their ranch. When asked his reasoning behind the murders, he said he "just wanted to see what it felt like to kill Grandma." It didn't end there, Edmund went on to kill 6 more women including his mother and one of her friends. He proceeded to dismember the bodies and perform sexual acts with some of their parts.
