The Semester Told By One Tree Hill

We all know the feeling of trying to get through another semester, but telling it with One Tree Hill makes it so much better.

"One Tree Hill" has gotten me and a lot of other people through difficult times in different stages of life, and it has also taught people a lot of great lessons. I watched the entire series my freshman year of college when I was going through a lot of changes in my life and it always seemed to make everything better, and it became my absolute favorite show. "One Tree Hill" is still my favorite way to pass time, while unfortunately, school is not. School brings a lot of challenges all on its own, but it has to happen.

So, I figured I should try to put a good spin on it. If you are struggling to get through the semester, let Brooke, Peyton, Nathan and the rest of "One Tree Hill" help you out with that.

1. It is finally hitting you that school starts again soon

Another semester of school is coming, and you remember all the heartbreak that last semester brought you.

2. Your friend group is half its original size

Suddenly, you remember your friends that graduated last semester are no longer on campus.

3. Your schedule looks AWFUL

You look at your schedule and you see the 8:30 a.m. and Friday classes staring at you like...

4. Break, in fact, didn't last forever

The world keeps crumbling as you realize your break is over.

5. The first week should be easy, right?

Syllabus day has arrived. This week should be easy and laid back, but then your professor starts teaching on the first day.

6. Then the rest of life hits all at once

You have multiple jobs, multiple tests, multiple assignments, a social life to maintain, AND you need sleep... then an adult tells you that, “you’re young, and you will be fine.”

7. Sleep? What is that?

You are exhausted, literally, all the time.

8. Bless your soul, Mr./Ms. Professor

Out of nowhere, one of your professors offers last chance extra credit.

9. Have no fear, the best part of the semester is here

Like a saving grace, the best week of the semester comes around -- Spring break.

10. Wait, it's the end already?

By the time the end of the semester rolls around, you just have to hope and pray you made decent grades.

11. We made it, fam

Hell week(s) and exams hit, and you don’t know if you can make it anymore. But you always do.

12. This goes a lot quicker than I thought

The semester ends, and you count how many more semesters you have left in college.

The semester might be getting hard, but hey, at least "One Tree Hill" knows how you feel.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
