I honestly believe I was destined to be a digital communications major. Looking back on my life prior to college, I was always interested in the arts—photography, film, video editing, to name a few—and I would pride myself in making a video montage of a family event. I was always interested in film and all the efforts that go into film and photography that I would overlook it as a hobby.

Growing up, I wanted to be a fourth-grade teacher. I wanted to be exactly like my dad's sister Teresa. I would ask a million questions about her and what she was like. From what I was told, she was an amazing woman and teacher. She taught in Hudson County—which is one of the poorest counties in New Jersey. Several of her students wouldn't have winter jackets, so she would go out and buy nice winter jackets for her students out of the kindness of her heart. I wanted to be the same exact kind of teacher she was, and I knew I wanted to be a teacher.

As I grew older, my passion for being a teacher was still there, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a teacher anymore. I began exploring other careers that interested me. During my junior year alone, I changed my mind about what I wanted to do so many different times. I wanted to major in education, then I wanted to major in photography/graphic design, then back to education, then criminal justice, then back to education, then back to graphic design, and then back to education before deciding on communications. My parents suggested that I look into communications because there are so many job options that would interest me.

I instantly fell in love with Cabrini's Digital Communications and Social Media major. I love being on social media, and it has a very artistic aspect to it. Unlike the regular communications major, I would learn how to be a leader on social media and how to work in the social media age. During my senior year of high school, I took a film class at a local film school and I fell in love with the TV and film world. I fell in love with the aspects of creating content, from operating the camera to making sure everything's perfect. I knew from that moment on I that wanted to work in the production world. My dream job is working for the "Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon.

Being a Digital Communications major isn't easy, but in the end, I'll be prepared. I am excited to see where Cabrini takes me and to see where I go in life.
