The Second Semester Slump As Told By 'How I Met Your Mother'

I really don't think I can study anymore.

The Second Semester Slump As Told By 'How I Met Your Mother'

We all know the feeling that comes over us once second semester hits. The temperatures get colder, the days seem longer and shorter at the same time, and our motivation starts to dwindle. The days seem so dark as we turn in yet another Blackboard quiz at 11:58 p.m. We are not alone, though. We are all on the same (seemingly never-ending) journey to get those diplomas. Here are some things we all can relate to:

1. Sometimes you just can't do it anymore.

You sure can have that whole bottle of wine to yourself. Go ahead, I won't judge you.

2. There's always that one person who seems to actually have their life together.

Please don't talk to me.

3. When someone tells you that you just need to manage your time better:

GTFO.

4. When you decide to put off homework and go to Taco Bell instead:

Maybe that person was right about my time management problem... Oh well, let me finish this quesadilla first.

5. There's always that one professor you think you love, but then they assign 137 assignments for the same week.

There goes the possibility of enjoying any class ever again.

6. Sometimes you do actually try to do your homework.

Why am I doing this again?

7. You eventually start thinking of your other options besides college.

Are you sure?

8. Trying to decide between taking a nap and studying for your test tomorrow is hard.

The nap probably won.

9. Sometimes you get a little disappointed in yourself for not trying as hard as you could.

I'll try again tomorrow.

10. Then you surprise yourself when you actually get your crap done.

I knew I could do it the whole time.

11. To reward yourself for what you should have done in the first place, you celebrate, of course.

You deserve it!

12. When Monday rolls around again:

This is a joke, right?

13. But don't worry, the end is closer than we think.

We can do this. Hang in there, fellow slumpers!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
