The Scariest Parts Of Disney World

The Fantasmic and The Frightening

The Scariest Parts Of Disney World

We all know that Disney World is a magical place but we don't typically remember until we get to Disney World that it can be a frightening place as well. When I first arrived in Orlando last weekend with one of my sister's seven bridesmaids for her bachelorette party, the sun was just barely settling on the horizon. I had not yet discovered the first Disney World monster of lack of sleep. Spoiler Alert: on the entire trip I probably averaged five hours of sleep a night and I slept more than any of the other girls on the trip! Also on that first night, the second Disney monster emerged in the form of the overpriced food. You think a $20 meal back home is expensive, until you have talked so much at the Rain Forest Café that you didn't even notice consuming $20 appetizers, $30 entrees, and a $20 lava cake. I am lucky that I am underage, because at the end of the trip the alcohol tabs of the older girls were probably more expensive than the tickets into the Disney parks! Everything at Disney World is about 20% more expensive than it is in the real world. The third Disney monster to attack during the trip was the sun, which can be found in every part of the planet, but some how manages to be 9,000 degrees hotter in Disney World. All eight of us girls in our tank tops and yoga capris, downing gallons of water and staying inside as much a possible, probably sweated enough liquid to turn the Sahara desert into an ocean. Even worse than the sweat, were the crimson burns covering our backs and faces by the end of the trip. Every aloe vera plant in Arizona couldn't provide enough comfort to make those burns any less painful. However, worse than the menacing sun was the fourth Disney monster, the children. Don't get me wrong; children are wonderful when they are laughing, smiling, running around singing songs, until you are trapped with them for two hours in a muggy building waiting for a 3 minute ride. After a while of being trapped in this situation, the booming laughter of children sounds a lot less like cheerful little birds flying around Cinderella's castle and more like the cackling laughter of Ursula the sea sorceress when she curses innocent merfolk. It's enough to drive a girl insane. In the end, though, the scariest part of Disney World is that even with all the monsters, I would do it all again just to have the laughter, bonding, thrill and absolute magic that can only be found in Disney World, where both sweaty nightmares and encouraging dreams come true.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
