There are 7 billion people in the world, which means there are 7 billion chances of finding love. With Valentine’s Day coming and going, I, like many others, have yet to meet that one special person who will be my ride and die. The million-dollar question that everyone wants to know is why am I still single? That is the big question that both girls and boys have on their mind around this time of the year. So, here are a few reasons why I’m single, a few reasons why you’re single, and a few reasons why we are all single as told by the television show "New Girl."
1. I don’t think I am ready to be tied down yet.

2. I’m just keeping my options open
We have to keep all of our options open and meet new people at every opportunity. We just need to take it one day at a time.
3. I’m still figuring out who I am
I am who I am and that’s all I really want to be. I’m single because I need to find that one guy who likes me for me.
4. When I finally get a date...

5. Because when I do go on dates, this is what happens
We can all agree that dates are kind of weird and awkward, especially first dates. Us girls are looking forward to a (hopefully) free meal, while the guys are checking their bank accounts every two seconds hoping they still have enough money to pay for the rest of the date.
6. My prayers to God to meet a nice boy and marry him haven’t happened yet
Yes, God please answer my prayers. I would like to fall in love one day and get married just like the rest of us. Please let it happen to me so I’m not alone forever. Amen.
7. Whenever a boy actually talks to me…
I think boys are literally from a different planet. They make us freeze up whenever they even utter a word. We don’t want to embarrass ourselves in front of them. Ugh, no one really knows what to say in front of these creatures.
8. And whenever I actually try to talk to a boy
But, whenever I do try to say something to a boy, it usually comes out sounding like gibberish.
9. And then when I try to flirt with said boy
Don’t even get me started on flirting with boys. Flirting 101: don’t embarrass yourself and try to play it cool.
10. Comparing myself to the girls who have boyfriends
We’ve all seen those girls who walk into a restaurant looking like they just came out of a photoshoot with their model boyfriends. Enough said. Pity has been taken on you and your poor soul.
11. I want to look good for my potential boyfriend, but food...
Don’t we all want to have an amazing body and a six-pack? I mean I know I do, but it’s so hard to motivate myself to actually go workout.
12. When I should be going out to find my soul mate, but...
Some nights I just want to sit in my bed eating a bag of Cheetos Puffs while watching Nicholas Sparks movies and crying myself to sleep. Is that really so bad?
13. And to the people who seem to always have a boyfriend
I am so done with all of you that complain about your boyfriend or girlfriend. Think of the less fortunate who only have their friends and cats to keep them company and give them love.
14. I just really hope I don’t end up like this
I mean this could really happen to any of us, but we are all praying that it won’t.
15. I mean it’s okay; I’ll find someone one day right?
Yes, we’re all going to find that special someone one day! It will happen to you and it will happen to me, but it sure is hard waiting for that special person to come into our lives. Can’t they just get here already?
16. But sometimes bad things happen to good people
We’re single for a reason right now. Let’s just ride out this lonely part of our lives together. Shall we?
17. And maybe girls can be a little dramatic
If you don’t find your husband by the time you graduate from college, your life isn’t over. Have you ever thought that maybe you are starting the best years of your life single and you’ll find the right person a little later in life.
18. What can I say, we’re all a little crazy
I just hope my future boyfriend accepts my craziness, but for now I will try to accept my craziness.
19. But in the end, this really just sums it up for all of us single folks
I’m single. I’m ready to mingle. Let’s get this show on the road.
