For myself (as with many college students), there is no greater time than going back home for the weekend. The thought of sleeping in our own bed, eating actual home-cooked meals and spending time with our pets brings joy back into our hearts. I personally always have a long list of things that I plan on accomplishing when I'm home for a weekend, but it never really pans out. Unfortunately, there is a pretty big difference between our expectations of going home and what actually happens in reality.
Expectation: Seeing friends in the area.
Reality: I never actually leave the house.
Whenever I'm home, I always plan on texting some of my old friends and getting lunch or hanging out. However, that never ends up happening, and I spend the whole weekend home. But hey, at least I spent time with my cat.
Expectation: Finishing things you left behind unfinished.
Reality: The list of unfinished tasks gets longer.
One thing that I always say I'm going to do while I'm home is clean my room (which has been a complete mess for probably a year now). It's quite plain to see that I still haven't taken care of that, and it probably won't happen for a while yet.
Expectation: Getting homework done over the weekend.
Reality: Hurrying to finish homework after getting back to school on Sunday night.
I always plan on getting homework done while I'm at home. I tell myself that I will totally work on it at night when I'm just hanging out watching TV. However, that never seems to actually happen, and I always end up doing an entire weekend's worth of homework in the few hours between getting back to school and going to sleep.
Expectation: Fabulous home-cooked meals.
Reality: Actually, this one is true, thank goodness.
Eating food that requires more work than just using the microwave is probably the best feeling in the entire world. It's even better that you don't have to make it.
Expectation: I'm not bringing laundry home this time, I'll just do it at school.
Reality: *brings five bags of laundry home*
I mean to stay on top of laundry at school, I really do. But if I can go home and have my parents do it for free, it's best to just wait and bring it all home. Right?
