In 2015, we were blessed with the phrase "Netflix and Chill". To many, that means exactly what you think it means, but to others, it means the complete opposite.
This trend has continued to stay popular throughout the last two years and many people still don't even know what it really means. There are so many people that used this phrase before it was even popular, for exactly what it sounds like, watching Netflix and sitting on the couch--"chilling" as people like to say.
After this term became popular, the meaning changed and everyone began to think that it meant something else entirely. To some people, it actually meant that new meaning, but if you were lucky enough or careful enough, there were still people that believed in the actual meaning of just sitting and watching TV instead of, well...something else.
If you're anything like me, you laughed at this new trend, because you realized how stupid it actually was. And not to mention, kind of inconvenient. Boys--men, of my generation love to take advantage of this new phrase and sometimes it is hard to know if they really want to just sit on the couch and watch TV or the other thing. What many of them don't understand is that most women literally just want to watch TV and nothing else! All we want to do is get comfy and sit there and watch something on Netflix until we fall asleep.
The hardest part about this changing phrase is that it is difficult for some people to understand which way it should really be. Many people just want to sit and watch TV and actually live out the phrase "Netflix and Chill", and others may want the other meaning of the phrase "Netflix and Chill".
Whichever meaning of the phrase you identify with is ok. I'm not here to judge anyone, obviously, but I feel like someone just needed to make it clear, that "Netflix and Chill" does not only have that one 2015 meaning that everyone thinks it does.
