The Real Issue.

It's Not About Losing Your Guns.

The Real Issue.

I know you're probably tired of hearing everyone's opinions in regards to gun violence and gun regulations. Trust me I am too. But opinions and debates in Facebook comments are just distractions from the real issue. That issue being, that people are taking advantage of their rights and people are dying as the result of it. Can we all agree on that? The issue is not that some people want to take your guns away, and let's be blunt here, if your biggest concern after 126+ events of mass shootings, (since 1996), is that your gun will be taken away, you need to rethink your priorities.

Now, I don't want to act like I am some sort of expert on this issue, because I am not. I just want you all to know that this IS AN ISSUE. If the 896 victims could speak I'm sure they would agree. But the truth of the matter is, they can't.

All because someone took away their right to live because they were taking advantage of their “right” to bare arms. The fact that it is 2016 and this is still an issue baffles me, as I am sure it blows your mind too. I definitely thought after the Sandy Hook shootings that something would be done. That some form of legislature would come to light and be passed because 20 CHILDREN DIED. But nothing happened. Even after someone shot up an elementary school, Americans refused to do anything but send their thoughts and prayers. As if that ever did anything other than put a band-aid on the gaping bullet wounds of those kids.

No where is safe. Not schools, movie theaters, churches, or malls. If you don't that is all sorts of messed up, please leave the room. You always think, “it wont happen to me”, until it does. On the evening of July 20th 2012, people geared up to see the latest installment of the Dark Knight trilogy, in hopes of being awestruck by their favorite superhero. On June 17th 2015 church goers got ready to to pray together while being in the house of the Lord. Earlier this month, patrons of PULSE night club got ready for a night out. They were full of joy and happiness and all they wanted to do was enjoy their time with friends. None of these people expected that they would become part of a news headline.

I guess what I am trying to instill in your minds is that there is a bigger issue here than someone taking away your gun. That is not our main goal, our main goal is preserve the lives of those targeted by these shooters. Life is precious and full of potential. Your gun is not.

Myself and many others just want to wake up and not read another head line that says, “This Many Dead In Another Mass Shooting.” But for some reason, we're stubborn, and we do nothing. It is now more American to fight for your right to own a fire arm, than it is to have the right to the American Dream.

But you can't have the “American Dream” if you're dead. So stop sending your thoughts and prayers to the victims, they do absolutely nothing. Stop sweeping it under the rug and pretending this isn't an epidemic when it is, you're part of the problem. And get up and do something about it. Sign the petitions, contact your senator, your house representative, register to vote. Do something, please don't become a statistic.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
