- A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out
Panic! At the Disco’s first album, the reason the world was introduced to this fabulous band was a hit. It will always hold a special place in my heart because of its rhythmic beats, catchy lyrics, and the reason I fell in love with them. Arguably their most famous song, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” has forever left a mark on the year 2005. Personally, it’s an album I still listen to very often while still crying over how they were all once together.
2. Pretty. Odd.
Pretty. Odd. was the band’s second album that took the world by storm. The album was drastically different from the band’s first album, not only in musical style but even band direction. Pretty. Odd. had a Beatles meets Beach Boys type of feel that made fans either love it or hate it. Personally, this is my favorite album but was so closely tied with A Fever You Can’t Sweat out that I had to make the ultimate choice. It featured its hit song, “Nine in the Afternoon” which set the tone for the album.
3. Death of A Bachelor
Death of A Bachelor is third on my list because it has definitely proved itself in my eyes. As we all know the only remaining member of the band, Brendon Urie, has a lot of time to think about where he wants Panic! to go. This album did just that. It has expanded Panic! At the Disco’s brand while also exploring the mature side of Brendon Urie’s life. As he has grown, so has his band. Featuring songs include, “Victorious” with its upbeat melody to “Death of A Bachelor” with its sultry sway and forward lyrics. I have high hopes that Brendon will continue to produce more music such as this (Maybe a reunion with former band members?).
4. Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die
Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die is fourth on my list because of all the chances I’ve given it. The album itself wasn’t amazing, but had some really great songs such as “This is Gospel” and “Miss Jackson.” To me, this album could have used more work. I can’t tell if its because Brendon Urie was having a hard time finding himself because former band member Spencer Smith had just left or he got lazy. As a fan since the beginning, this album does not reflect how pure and hardworking the band truly is.
5. Vices & Virtues
I don’t even know where to start on Vices & Virtues. I know people who absolutely love this album and others who hate it. Unfortunately I am one of those people who dislike it. I was most excited for this album because Panic was finally returning. After the sad loss of members Ryan Ross and Jon Walker, this was the triumphant return fans were waiting on. I did not think this album delivered what we needed. Although the band was working on this album before the split, fans can see who wrote what per say. For me, this album was personally lacking the true passion that Panic! as shown all along.
