How to best take advantage of all 24 hours in a day.

Out of all my quarters of being a student, this one has definitely been the biggest whirlwind in terms of time management and organization. Most people I know complain because I'm either in work or school during the time they have free, and I'm free while they're busy. While this is inconvenient I take it as a challenge to fit everything and everyone into my schedule. And frankly, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I enjoy being on-the-go and I would highly suggest attempting to set your schedule to be consistently moving all through the day, at least for one quarter. The reason I would suggest doing so is that college, generally speaking, is the only time in your life where you will be allowed this kind of flexibility, and taking advantage of it can help you learn skills and behaviors by yourself, in addition to the education you're receiving.

This is because when you make your own schedule, staying organized is key. Things like work and class times may remain consistent, but other such factors, such as group meetings, appointments, gym time, errands, and social engagements are all variable and differ from week-to-week. Keeping track of all of this can help improve time management and organizational skills. Not to mention, once presented with a list of tasks, it's up to your own discretion what you may choose to prioritize, and how you remain accountable and responsible.

Being on-the-go means that your schedules will differ from day to day and week to week, so it is up to one's own self to keep motivated and keep going. Personally, I prefer variety in schedule to being monotonous, but being on the go can also improve efficiency. Completing tasks quickly may buy you more free time on your schedule, which in turn can be motivation to start a task.

Another positive factor is that you will be able to see and feel a sense of personal control over your schedule, social obligations, and work environments. If a long commute is required for you to get to work or school, picking your own hours can help avoid or reduce the stresses of traffic, for example.

Not to mention, every person works best at a different time of day. There are morning people and there are night owls, and before you know it, you may have to conform to a 9-5 schedule. If you know you work best or feel freshest at a differing time, take advantage of it! Doing so may increase morale, engagement, and commitment to the task at hand.

Having your preferred work schedule, also means you have your preferred sleep schedule. Better yet, it means you also can have spontaneous adventures which may be cheaper and less crowded, if taken place during the day, compared to the rush of people during happy hour, dinners, or night shows.

As stated, these four years may be one of the only times in life that you are fully able to take full advantage of the entire 24 hours in a day. As a result, change up your schedule, go through a new routine, and take advantage of free time.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
