The Problem With Boys | The Odyssey Online

How many bases do you have to blow through to get a guy to notice you? Honestly the answer should be none. It’s sucky but I also understand it. We live this exhilaratingly, fast paced life and college is supposed to be a time for exploration. Yeah maybe you don’t want a boyfriend or girlfriend, and that’s completely logical because who has time for another human when you barely make it to class on time and times are changing and all we need now apparently is a “hey r u up” text to make it known that "so and so" is into you. I’m sorry but I’m over it.

But what happens now is you spend five or so months knowing this person and suddenly it comes to a screeching halt. It's over, it’s done, and you were used, maybe as an ego boost, maybe you were just convenient. Tyra Banks says it best “one day you’re in, the next day you’re out.”

I swear it’s not all boys, I know some really great guys and I also know some really shitty ones that would do just about anything for a quick lay and an ego boost.

Stop trying to get Brad from Theta Chai Latte to notice you. If he wanted to text you, he would have already and as bad as that sounds, it’s true. You need to stop making excuses for people that don’t care about your existence. Stop reaching out to someone who forgets about you because that isn’t how this is supposed to go. You deserve more because you are more.

Never blame yourself because the guy you like doesn’t like you back. Never feel like you’re not enough, never let someone make you feel inferior; because you’re not. Your purpose on earth isn’t to make other people happy, you come first, and you don’t owe anyone anything, especially not a stupid boy who only texts you when it’s convenient for him. You’re not here to show your self-worth to a guy who will forget your name by next week. You owe him nothing and if he says otherwise, he’s a shitty human and you my friend, deserve a hell of a lot more than a late night booty call.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
