The truth is I have actually been voting most of my life. Whenever my parents went to vote they would both take me into the booth and they always let me push the buttons. When they went out to campaign for their choice of Mayor, Governor or President, I would work with them. I really couldn’t do that much as an 8-year-old, but I loved being around all of it and being involved. I learned that no matter what your views are you must speak your mind, and the best way to do that is to vote.
Right now our country isn’t in a good place. We are almost going backwards instead of forwards and it’s very scary. The thing is, I don’t mind if you believe something different than I do. We are all unique, which is great. I don’t expect all of the citizens of the United States to ever completely agree on any issue. We must respect different views, or there’s going to be a lot of fighting and less mending.
I am not going to say if I am a Democrat or Republican and I am also not going to name who I plan to vote for in this coming election, but I can promise you that I am going full-out on supporting my choice. I want our country to be known as one without equal in the world – in the best possible way. I want us to actually have the true American dream. With all of today’s bigotry and hatred, someone who comes to America looking for a better chance at living their dream usually gets shut down because they don’t meet discriminatory standards. Our country has amazing potential to improve, but that lies in the hands of the voters.
When you decide who to vote for in this presidential election, you are taking a serious step in helping our country’s future. If you don’t know how to choose, or just want to vote for who your family is voting for, stop and think. It’ll take ten minutes out of your life if you watch or read something honest about each candidate and think about what is best for you. When you are in college, you are the future of our country. We all have a responsibility to think about how we can move forward for the benefit of every citizen.
We are the future. If you just sit back and let others take control, or think that a candidate will win without your vote, you are wrong. Help your country and help make a better future for yourself and everyone. Vote!
