Recently, I went on a trip with my aunts, mom and two cousins to Boston. Spending four days traveling around with them made me realize just how important and valuable family is. Without a doubt, I can always count on my crazy family to cheer me up, put a smile on my face and make me laugh uncontrollably. After going on this trip, these are some of the things I have realized about my family.
1. They are the most supportive group of people I know.
No matter what the issue is, they are always there to support you and stand behind you. Even if that issue is just an embarrassing situation (Aunt Lorry, this one's for you), they will still be there to tell you that it's OK and that the same thing has happened to them before, after their inevitable ten minutes of laughter and mockery (all out of love, of course).
2. You can always count on them to make you smile.
After a semester of stressful tests and assignments, I was so excited to be able to spend the weekend having fun with my family. We spent a good majority of the weekend laughing until our stomachs hurt and making great memories together. Everyone in my family loves to laugh, so there's almost never a dull moment when we're together.
3. As a family, we are strong together.
Our family is very close, and after experiencing some very difficult losses, being strong as a family became very important. All of us think about my cousin and my grandma a lot, and being able to celebrate them together as a family is very special and important to us.
4. This family is a blessing.
I wouldn't trade my family for anything. We're a huge and crazy bunch — with ten kids, 25 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, my grandparents were nothing less than superheroes. I am very lucky and grateful to have a family that is so loving, supportive and silly.
Cheers to the Kuter clan! The craziest and most fun family out there.
