The Positive Side Of Being A Wallflower

Wallflowers are just as important as extroverts.

Not everyone is going to be an outgoing, bubbly, confident person and that's okay. Quiet people that keep to themselves are honestly just as interesting as extroverted people. Like anything in life, being introverted does have its setbacks, but it is also a really good trait to have. Sometimes I wish I was more outgoing but other times I am happy that I am introverted because it does have its perks.

Observant.

They see and understand the world in a way that other people wouldn’t. They have the ability to pick up on people’s facial expressions and changes in tone. They understand how people feel without them having to say a word.

Good Listeners.

They love listening to people, seeing where they are coming from, and helping them. They love offering people their opinions and advice.

Good Decision Makers.

When it comes to hard decisions, they are able to think about their options. They analyze what would be best for themselves and for the people around them and then they decide based on those factors. They weigh their options before they jump right in.

Voice.

They have a voice, they just choose when they want to use it. They don’t say much but when they do it’s usually something intellectual and well thought out.

Quality Over Quantity.

They know that having one close friend is better than having many friends that aren’t as reliable.

Self Reflective.

They embrace the solitude. They are okay with being alone because that is where they feel the most comfortable. They like being alone because it gives them time to reflect on themselves and figure out who they are.

Make Great Friends.

They tend to keep their friend circle small, so they will always have time for you. They know everything about you and will be there for you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
