The Person Who Cares The Most In A Relationship Actually Wins

"The person who cares less wins." Why on Earth has our society accepted this statement as a fact? Since when does caring the least about a relationship or breakup make you a winner? In my opinion, it makes you weak. Shutting off emotions or never even allowing yourself to fall for someone is a cop out. I know because I've been both the person who cares the most and the person who cares the least. From my experience, being the one who cares most is so much more rewarding, no matter how painful it is.

Caring more makes you brave.

Madonna once said, "To be brave is to love someone unconditionally without expecting anything in return." Loving someone or even just caring about someone takes a lot of bravery because you can't be sure if that person will reciprocate the feeling. The more we care, the more we have to lose, but caring more makes us couragous. Loving someone with your whole heart gives them everything they need to break it. Knowing this and still choosing to love is what makes us strong though.

Holding onto a person you could never love is only cruel.

They say it's so much easier to be with a person you can't love than accept the fact that you love someone you can't ever have. Why is that? I think keeping someone you can't love is cowardly and incredibly cruel. An unknown author said, "One of the cruelest things a person can do is to awaken someone's love without any intention of truly loving them." It doesn't require an ounce of courage to hold onto a person you don't actually care about just because you don't want to be alone and you know they love you. So, maybe being with someone you don't love that loves you is easy, but you'll never truly be happy until you're with someone you do love.

Yes, it hurts when it ends, but you actually FEEL.

Being the one who cares more typically hurts a lot more, but why is that losing? If a breakup hits you like an avalanche then you know that the relationship was real. Tennyson said it best, "'Tis better to have loved and lost/ Than never to have loved at all." So yes, it might sting when you see them making out with someone else at a party one day, but at least you know it was once real between you two.

All things considered, relationships are difficult. Thornton Wilder said, "Even in the most perfect love, one person loves less profoundly than the other." An equal love might be impossible, so I personally think that the person who loves the most is the winner. This is incredibly difficult and terrifying, but remember, "Love is patient, love is kind. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails" (1 Corinthians 13:4.7-8).

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
