Yes, we love college. We love being away from home. We do what we want, when we want. But after the same thing day in and day out, sometimes we need a breather. The parties, the massive amount of homework, the drama. It's nice to step back and recharge our bodies. That is why going home from school can be one of the greatest feelings.
1. Your pets are extremely excited to see you
Yes, your parents love you. But your pets act like you came home from war. One foot through the door and you're covered in dog hair and drool, but who cares?
2. A bed made for a queen or king
It's like falling into a cloud; you can sprawl out and guess what? All your body parts are still on the bed. And the best part? It was actually made before you got in it! Crazy--I know.
3. A nice home-cooked meal
Mom's homemade Italian cuisine, or a Hot Pocket? Easy decision.
4. If you're lucky, you won't have to pay for things
If your parents really love you and missed you, they actually WANT to buy you something nice. When you're a broke college kid, even a free bag of chips is heavenly.
5. Lounging
As if you don't lay around enough, being away from school makes it feel like it's a little more acceptable.
6. You aren't back forever
As much as we love a nice visit home, eventually our parents start telling us what to do again. Then we remember exactly why we went away to school.
I love my family. I love my pets. I love my hometown. Coming home allows us to breathe again. We can get our mojo back and feel like ourselves again. There is nothing wrong with taking a break and go back to where you started. Don't worry about what you might miss at school because there is a reason you even considered going home.
