The Perks of Being Your Furry-Friend (As Told by Your Dog)

From all the doggies to all the doggy mommies and doggy daddies, we love you. *Howl*

We all know (and love) those perks of having a dog: you wake up snuggling, share some food at the breakfast table, shed some tears as you say goodbye for the day, come home to get kissed to death and repeat it all again and again. Those feelings aren't just one-way; your dog lives on your love and, to prove it to you, has compiled a list of all the things she loves about being your BFF (best furry-friend).

1. When your body molds to mine throughout the night.

Dear human, every night I anticipate jumping onto your fluffy mattress, digging into my blanket so it's perfectly placed and cuddling up in your legs. You keep me nice and warm and make me feel so loved. I know sometimes you get uncomfortable and have to move a little bit, but just know that I'll always curl up to you no matter what position you may be in (yes, I will lay on you if necessary).

2. When you take me on a walk (again...and again...and again).

Oh, human, nothing makes me howl louder than when you say that beautiful four letter word: walk. Does Bella want to go for a walk? Is that even a question?! Of course Bella wants to go on a walk! Forget my harness and leash, we have to go now! I know I may pull you and forget to breathe out of excitement, but know that, behind this all, you are the one holding the leash, running with me and creating this euphoric state I am in, so thank you.

3. When you include me in your everyday shenanigans.

We don't always have to do what I want, human. Whether you're teaching me how to skateboard or how to do yoga, I'll be here with you. Downward dog? I can do that, too! Push-ups? I'll be down here to give you a kiss each time you lower yourself! Soccer? I love playing with balls! I love you, mommy. No matter what we're doing, I'll be here with you.

4. When we go on adventures in the car (just not the vet).

I love car rides most of the time, but even when I know where we're going and don't want to go, I'm fine as long as you're with me. If it's two of you in the car, I love cuddling up and taking a nap while the wind blows in my hair and makes me sneeze. If it's just you, though, I love watching our every move out the window and barking at any human I see.

5. Seeing your smile as you walk through the door.

You're the most important human to me, mommy, and when you get home each day your smile makes me smile/howl/go crazy. You are the favorite part of my day and, as much as I hate watching you leave, I love when you come home even more. You are my world and I would be a sad pup without you.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
