The Perils of Group Projects

I truly hate group projects since no else takes school seriously except me. It is tiring.

The Perils of Group Projects

I cannot stand group projects. Why? Because no matter what kind of level class you are in, there is always that one person who makes you want to smash your head into a brick wall. I just do not understand it. You are fully aware that other people are depending on you.

I am frequently told that it is "just life."

"There will always be people who do nothing."

"Just ignore it."

How can I ignore it when it is hindering me from receiving a good grade and also giving me double or sometimes triple the work. I just don't understand some people and how they can do that to another person.Yes, it is accurate that it is just life. If that is the case, how are these people getting through life like this?

I have been in many of these situations. I don't know if I am just very controlling, or that every single group project that I have ever been put into makes me want to cry my eyes out. In my math class, we frequently change groups to work on different task lists that the teacher distributes. I was recently put into a group with two other people. I knew from the moment I sat down that I would be doing all of the work.

The. Entire. Time. They. Only. Spoke. Of. Fraternities. And. Sororities.

Listen up.

I honestly do not care if your "sister" got an annoying "little" or that someone forgot to pay their dues. All I care about in math class... IS MATH CLASS.

This frat guy literally looks at me and says, "I'm sorry if it seems like you're doing all of the work."

Seems like...?

Excuse me a moment while I go and burn your frat house down, maybe that will give you something else to talk about.

Another time, I made sure I placed myself in a group with one of the most knowledgeable kids in my class. Little did I know, he does absolutely nothing. Project after project, I am constantly harassing him for his portion. It isn't like he doesn't have time either, since I see him at every possible school event. Kudos to you for being so school spirited, but take school seriously for once and not be such an idiot.

There are some people who just make me think that they're wasting their money. This is college, over half of the student population are going to be in debt for the rest of their lives. I feel like, at that point, college should be taken seriously. We aren't here to sleep in, skip class, and party. NO. We are here to educate ourselves, earn good grades, and eventually get a great paying job. Who wants to hire a slacker who has an inability to work in groups? Certainly not me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
