The Perfect Playlist To Help You "Get Your Thursday On"

Thursdays are the worst. Of all the days in the week, no day is as loathsome as Thursday. Undoubtably, it will always feel like it is the weekend by the time you finally get to unwind after an exhausting Thursday, but will still have another day of work/school. Last Thursday, as my first practice of two that day was wrapping up and I was bracing myself for class, my day was immediately turned around by a random encounter on campus.

With the well wishes of a passer-by reminding me to have a good day and to "get my Thursday on," I immediately took that to heart. That short but pleasant encounter in my morning was just what I needed to power through the worst day of the week. Now whenever another horrible Thursday roles around, I just remind myself to "get my Thursday on," instantly giving me that extra boost I need to have a good day. I've compiled the perfect playlist to help you start your Thursday off on the right note.

1. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go- Wham!

This up-tempo, high energy song is the perfect wake-up jam to get you hitting the ground running the second your alarm goes off (or after the 2nd or 3rd time of snoozing it).

2. I Wanna Dance With Somebody- Whitney Houston

While I'm usually more of a "Whitney Wednesdays" kind of girl, this song alway get me excited and ready to take on anything my day throws at me. Plus, this dance anthem is perfect for a quick dance break with friends or to dance like no one is watching alone in your room...in front of a mirror...with a hairbrush microphone. You know, as they do in the movies.

3. You Make My Dreams Come True- Hall & Oates

Think of this song as the sound track to the montage of any boring, yet plot advancing, necessary parts of your day. When you are doing laundry, putting on your make up, or driving to work, this song helps you to finish those monotonous daily task with a little more pep in your step.

4. MMMBop- Hanson

Who doesn't need a delightful throwback from their childhood to bring back nostalgia from simpler times when you didn't have to put off doing your laundry another week because you can't even manage to scrape together $1.25 in quarters?

5. Run The World (Girls)- Beyoncé

Beyoncé is always the right choice. You can't go wrong with Beyonce. Honestly, is any playlist even complete without at least one song from Queen B?

6. Walking On Sunshine- Katrina & The Waves

'Nuff said.

7. Twist And Shout- The Beatles

Honestly this is more for the fact that you can imagine you are having a Ferris Buller's Day Off worthy day when you listen to this song. If the opportunity to sing on top of a parade float presents itself, just do it.

8. What A Wonderful World- Louis Armstrong

Sometimes you need to be reminded of all of the many reasons you have to be thankful. This song really does help remind me that it's the little things that count. Even on the hardest day, we are all truly blessed to live in such a wonderful world.

When in doubt, just pop this playlist on when getting ready in the morning or doing homework to get your day headed in the right direction. Don't forget to "Get Your Thursday On," and every other day of the week for that matter.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
