The Perfect Boyfriend
A Brand New Chapter of Life

The perfect boyfriend is not someone that continuously buys you things you have to have. The perfect boyfriend does not love the same hobbies you do. The perfect boyfriend does not put you on his Snapchat story every time you’re together. The perfect boyfriend does not make you his #wcw every week. The perfect boyfriend doesn’t exist. All the things on social media that shows off a couple as “relationship goals” may be a complete misrepresentation. You never know the real story behind a picture. No matter how many happy couple pictures are posted, the relationship will not get any better or worse.

Fixing a relationship takes time and much more effort. The majority of the time, trying to fix what is broken is a good excuse for procrastinating the pain of a breakup. If two people can talk it out rationally, it’s much easier to ask for a second chance than to admit that the two of you will never work. The perfect boyfriend is not someone that will never break up with you. The perfect boyfriend will sometimes hurt you. Sometimes the truth hurts worse than a lie. The perfect boyfriend is not someone fictional or false. The perfect boyfriend is someone we’ve all met, and we may have even had the privilege of holding them in our lives for a time.

The perfect boyfriend is a guy that will get you what you need. Maybe sometimes you need that chocolate and Dr. Pepper to turn a bad day into a good one. Other times he gives you a good slap on the butt to let you know he’s about done with your sass. No, he doesn’t continuously buy you flowers, or Naked palettes, or Victoria’s Secret clothes. Maybe he never has. The thing about the perfect boyfriend is he will get you exactly what you need when you need it.

The perfect boyfriend doesn’t have to love the same things you do. No matter how much you love cuddling and Netflix marathons, he probably doesn’t want to do that all the time. Hiking, fishing, hunting -- you may hate it but he may love it. He supports you in his endeavors, so the right thing to do is support him in his.

The perfect boyfriend doesn’t even have his phone out when you’re together, let alone take continuous pictures together. When you spend time with the perfect boyfriend, the phone disappears. He would much rather cause the beautiful smile on your face, or cause the funny laugh that happens only when you get really happy. Those moments cannot happen when the two of you sit across the room playing video games. Bonding happens when you put away the distractions and learn more about each other. Social media is a good way to fake a relationship. Online the relationship can be as good or as bad as you want to make it out to be. Instead of focusing on portraying your "perfect boyfriend," focus on enjoying the time spent together.

The perfect boyfriend doesn’t have to show you off. He knows how amazing you are and shows it with his actions to you. The perfect boyfriend is the most caring and wonderful person you could experience. He is patient, he is kind, he is loving. He is someone that should be appreciated for every little thing he does. The little touches that show he loves you, the arm around you to let another guy know you’re taken. He is observant and treats you like a queen.

When you find that person, love him unconditionally. He is rare and special. With him, second chances may not be possible. He is smart enough to notice when the relationship can’t go on. The perfect boyfriend isn’t always perfect, but he can love you perfectly if you let him.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
