The Past: A poem

They say the spring brings new beginnings.

The Past: A poem
Amanda Brauer

Will it ever be the same again?
They say the spring brings new beginnings
But all I want lies in the past
Trapped in cages,
Screaming up at the world that forgot

I know the past is dark
Something I should dread
And that the spring brings light
But what is light when it has no meaning?
No soul that flows through it
No past that gives it purpose

So I crave the past
I crave its meaning
No matter how dark it may be
I crave the soul that
Flowed through it like smoke

They say the spring brings light
But I bring forth the past
As a wisp of smoke
A forgotten essence
Flowing through light and dark

1. Why is Wilson Hall so complicated to navigate? Even as a senior, I still get lost in Wilson. As a freshman, I was warned about the unnecessary complexity of the building, was laughed at by upperclassman for my confused looks on the first day of school and walked and rewalked the whole hall before finding my classroom. #annoying.
