Hi.
I know how you are feeling; you see something and wish you could grab it without looking back, without thinking too hard. You wish you could let yourself soar like you are able to. I know because I am just like you.
We have so many opportunities placed in front of us, yet we tend to lurk back into the safety net that we think protects us -- until one day, the net is gone. We missed the opportunity we should've taken and now what we thought we would have for life is no more.
We wish that something would come along, but when it does, we are fearful to grasp what life has thrown at us. We are wary of what a new experience may bring and do not want to let our guard down.
I think the thing that what we have in common is that we were once hurt and we don't ever want that to happen again. We are cautious of where we go and who we associate with because we do not want to fall back into the darkness of betrayal. We do not want the same fear to overcome us once again, sending us into an abyss of distrust or disapproval.
Despite these things, we must be strong and face what is coming next.
An idea that I just recently wrapped my head around is that no matter what we do, we are always going forward. We cannot shoot back into the past, rather, the past is where we are shot from. We are slung into a world of new and old, where we will have to learn how to cope with new experiences and relationships. We are always growing and even though sometimes we want to revert back to the comfort under our parents' wings, we are destined for something more.
We can no longer be afraid to fly. There is nothing that you can do to stop life from carrying on and, as much as I hate it, there is no way to pause time and live in the moment. You cannot go back to the past and things may never be how they used to be, but those places you were at weren't meant to last. You are supposed to soar away, you are supposed to continue to spread your wings -- even though it can be absolutely terrifying.
In our times of doubt, we must look for what is ahead. We have to fix our gaze on the greater good for us -- not for someone or something else. Never let anyone stop you from doing something that you know you can do, especially if that someone trying to stop you is in fact you. You are capable of anything you put your mind to. The way I see it, we only have one life. One chance to do everything we want. One time to go on crazy adventures, to be carefree, to live. We can't keep missing opportunities that come our way because we are afraid of what will come or what we will leave behind. We must learn to accept the new times with open arms and let some things escape from our life with a big heart.
