Dear high school senior,
Welcome to Senior year! I know you may be excited to start your year and be the big bad seniors who the freshmen are afraid of, but there is more to it than just that. With becoming a senior, there are a lot more responsibilities and a lot less time to do things in your high school. The underclassmen now look up to and will often come to you for guidance and knowledge that you have.
With the first day of senior year, it is a last. In your final year you will encounter a lot of lasts such as, your last first day, your last football game, your last high school dance, your last spirit day, your last time wearing a uniform game, your last time playing a sport or being in a play, your last prom. Accompanying these lasts will be sadness, but make the most of each and every day. Don’t let the thought of the last high school moment ruin your events at school.
Responsibility.
A big word with a lot of weight that has to be carried. With being a senior you are given a lot of responsibility, such as whether you get to choose your electives or get to drive to school. Your teachers will give you more out of class work and it is your responsibility to do that work outside of class. In college you don’t have people explaining the assignments you have due everyday and they wont except any late work, so make sure to get in the habit during senior year of handing in your work and being prepared.
To the underclassmen you may be like older siblings to them now. They look up to you for everything. Make sure to be their shoulder to cry on and be there to help them when they need it. They will supply lots of laughs and good memories for you to look back on if you truly are a good role model to them.
Finally make the most of your senior year. Attend any event you can. Try to live at the school your last year and make it your home away from home. High school is a great four years and are essentially your last years without a lot of responsibility, so don’t take them for granted because the real world can be brutal at times.
Sincerely,
A person missing high school
