In 1963, animal experimenter Clarence Little and his team did a test on over 100 rats. The experiment consisted of the scientists using products such as cigarettes to test for lung cancer, they were trying to find a cure.
They could not find any product to produce lung cancer or anything compared to the extremes that humans go through on the rats. Medical professionals are stating that they need to test on animals to cure cancer and other diseases, but if rats can't contract the same diseases, that means there is no real point in testing on them.
Since 1963, scientists have slowly been realizing that there is no importance of animals in experimentation. There have been important medical advances have been delayed due to experimenting on animals, and in turn, it not working correctly on a human. U.S. Food and Drug Administration shows that 92 percent of drugs which pass animal trials are found to be unsafe or ineffective in human trials and never reach the market.
Animal experimentation is less efficient and reliable than many non-animal methods of experimentation. The most hated and known ways of animal experimentation is ‘pound seizure’ which is where animal shelters sell labs animals and then cosmetic and household product companies buy them to test their products.
Animals are not our property, it's astonishing that the United States still allows testing on animals. There are many products (organic and non) that do not test on animals and work even better than the products that are. The need for animal experimentation is zero; there are so many ways to get around it. Stopping animal experimentation can be easy in a few steps: reducing the amount of animals being tested, refining what types of animals are being tested, making sure the outcome will be actually used and needed, and then replacing all of the animals with non-living models.
