The Mowgli's have said it over and over again love is all you need. The Mowgli's, an alternative rock band from California, are my favorite band and I'm going to try and convince you why they are amazing. Sure, I love other bands like Fall Out Boy, New Politics and Twenty One Pilots, but The Mowgli's have one aspect that makes them special. The members of The Mowgli's love. They love their fans. Other bands love their fans but, The Mowgli's just take it to the next level. They believe that all love is important and amazing, which is what we need in today's climate. In an interview, they've been quoted saying, "The kids that come to our shows, we hope are in love with us as much as we are in love with them!"
The band is made up of seven members. Yes, you read that right, seven. The stage can get pretty crowded during a gig but they've all got an important part in the band. They've got Colin Louis Deiden (vocals, guitar), Katie Jayne Earl (vocals, percussion), Dave Applebaum (keyboards), Josh Hogan (guitar, vocals), Matthew Di Panni (bass), Spencer Trent (guitar, vocals) and Andy Warren (drums).

People who have heard any of their songs, or maybe even have seen them perform, might associate them with the hippie movement. They did all live in a house in Venice, California at one point and they love to love, so the connection isn't completely wrong. They have released two full albums with Photo Finish Records, Waiting for the Dawn and Kids in Love. Each album expanding on their idea of love and its intricacies.
I have seen The Mowgli's in concert three times now and each concert has somehow been better than the last. Last April, I saw them perform in Montreal, Canada and was actually lucky enough to interview Matt and Dave before the show and even hang out with the band after the show. This experience solidified my love for them. Listening to them talk about their band and the community that has formed around them was awe-inspiring and just plain amazing. Obviously, super nervous I didn't know what I was getting myself into but the second my friend and I sat down with them all our worries faded away.
Picking my favorite Mowgli's songs is almost impossible but there are a few songs I would recommend to get someone started with the band. The song "San Francisco" was their big hit and was the song that put them on the radio so it is always a good one to start of with. But personally my favorite from their first album would be "Time." On their newest album, there are the songs "Whatever Forever" and "Bad Dream" which have pretty much become my anthems for life. They recently released a single called, "Freakin' Me Out" which I have quickly fallen in love with as well. In my opinion, I really don't think they can do wrong with their music.
As i'm writing this article I'm getting ready to go see them again in concert, this time in Albany, NY, and I really can't wait. This will be the third time I've traveled quite a distance to see my favorite band but it has always been worth it. Going to a Mowgli's concert is like going to a really hip and crazy family reunion. And I'm just excited to go scream about love with my crazy Mowgli's family again.
