It seems as though the overall theme of summer is just spending time with people, for some reason most of the time during the evening. Cheesy as it sounds, summer is all about going and creating games, finding your childlike sense again. School is such a stressful time that you have to take it all in, and honestly participating in these TBT moments sounds like the perfect summer cocktail.
1. Water Balloon fights
Recently I had the pleasure of participating in a battle which consisted of 950 water balloons with about 17 children. I’m not sure if this is sad or not, but honestly, it was the highlight of my summer (so far). Does anyone remember having neighborhood water balloon fights or getting soaked after getting off the bus on the last day of school? Those days were the best and ultimately captured the essence of being a kid in summer.
2. Fourth of July Adventures
This is to all my Johns Creek/Roswell/Alpharetta members out there- the fireworks for Independence Day! The Country Club of Roswell always has the most magical fireworks on the golf course right next to the lake. Sitting with family and friends at the break of dusk, throwing a frisbee around (maybe accidentally sending it into the lake) having the holiday-themed rocket pops dripping down your face and possibly smudging the American flag temporary tattoo was a staple of growing up.
3. Swimming at Night
Admittedly, this is still something you can do, but do you recall feeling like the coolest kid around when your parents let you go to the pool at night with your friends? Hanging out with your friends as a completely awkward fifth grader and hanging on the ropes that divided the pool because there was no lifeguard around to tell you not to (I know, such a rebellious time) was the best.
4. Camp
Maybe not everyone went to a camp, but everyone usually has some sort of memory of going camping with their family and friends. Personally, the smell of a bonfire always brings back simpler times of s’mores and sitting around, basking in the beauty of the woods.
