11 Ways "The Lord Of The Rings" Describes The Month Of April

What better way to describe the stress of the worst month of the year than by comparing it to the greatest journey of all time?

The month of April is stressful for all college students. No matter your major, it's crunch time, and you're just tired of everything at this point. You're stressed, tired, hungry, and a whole other slew of emotions that you can't put a name to. I tend to enjoy" finals week, college as told by, etc." articles so I thought I'd make one of my own. Who better to describe the stress of April than the group that simply walked into Mordor (because let's face it, April is our own little journey to Mt. Doom)?

1. When March 31st is over

When the calendar makes the change from March to April, you know all of hell is about to be let loose.

2. Indiana weather

We all know Indiana weather can be crazy, but really? Snow in April? After those first few 70º days, just about everyone has refused to pull out their winter coats again, whatever the weather may be.

3. When you see your professor outside of class

I'm dead and heading into finals week. Seeing the people who make my life the current torment that it is does not improve my mood. (@Esteb)

4. Day-before the test cram sessions

April hits with all of its might, and that includes more exams than you thought you could handle. With those exams come study sessions that verge deep into the night.

5. When the only thing that makes you feel better is carbs

Let's face it, we've all been there.

6. With stress comes emotional eating

Finals validate second breakfast right?... and elevenses?... and luncheon?

7. When the tears start coming

Tears may not all be evil, but I strongly believe that all comprehensive exams are. To quote Smash Mouth, there comes a time when the tears stop coming and they don't stop coming.

8. How it feels going into all of your finals

I'm fully convinced that each of my professors is out to get me. They say it was in the notes, but when I get the test, nothing looks familiar.

9. When you're asked a question over the material you've JUST learned

The level of cluelessness that is Pippin is something I relate to on a very spiritual level.

10. When you're running just to stand still in a class

We all have that one class that's just not our forte. We still try to keep up with the best of them though.

11. When it's finally all over

We may have not walked all the way to Mordor and carried our best friend on our backs while being chased by an army of vengeful ring wraiths... but it sure feels like it.

April is the toughest month of the year in my opinion. It can be an unexpected journey, but if you find the right fellowship to travel with, you'll get through it. Hey, just be happy you didn't have to suffer through an army of orcs to do it. To whoever reads this, I hope this lightened your spirits and gave you that final push to get you to summer.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
