The Mandela effect is a term used when a large group of people have a clear memory of something that has never happened in this reality. The theory was named by famous author and researcher Fiona Broome after Nelson Mandela. The Mandela affect theory started because it is a very common belief that Nelson Mandela died in the early 1990's but officially died in 2013. Many people remember him dying in a prison and it was even recorded in a book called Western Cape Branch of the South African Council for English Education." The book was published in 1991 and inside has the quote, "Nelson Mandela died on the 23rd of July 1991." Many people have the memories of Mandela dying long before his actual death in 2013, thus creating the speculation around the other common memories of the Mandela effect.
A legit book that has his death recorded even though he wasn't dead until much later on...spooky, right?
Common memories:
1. September 11 or September 10?
There has been tons of people who have memories of 9/11 actually occurring on the tenth. Personally, I was too young to have any memories of the attacks at all, but just the fact that a lot of believe it was the tenth is kind of creepy.
2.The Berenstein bears

3. Mirror, Mirror on the wall"
The iconic Snow White quote WAS NEVER SAID. In the movie, the evil queen says "magic mirror". This is one of the most well known Disney movie quotes and it's not even real. This one blew my mind so hard I had to watch the scene over and over just to let the fact that she says "magic mirror" instead of "mirror mirror" sink in.
Of course, there are many more memories people have that never actually existed. Explanations of this conspiracy say that we have switched to parallel universes. When that happens, small changes were made, which explains why groups of people remember things that never truly existed in this universe but still carried the memory over from the past one.
Whether you believe in the Mandala Effect or not, it is a bit creepy to think that groups of people share the same memories that were never real. And just like Alex Russo says, "Everything is not what it seems."
