The life of an English major comes with struggles, perks, and misconceptions that no one but an English major could understand. From the most basic misconceptions, specific struggles, and special perks, all can rejoice that they are not alone. At some point all English majors have or will encounter these:

1. Everyone thinks that you want to be a teacher.

2. Constantly being told that majoring in English is easy.

3. Or, just completely impractical.

4. You get to read ALL THE TIME!

5. But sometimes being forced to read works that just bore you.

6. There is never a right answer!

7. There is never a right answer.

8. Only having a few moments to read for pleasure.

9. Always hearing the complaints of your friends that have to write a 3-5 page paper.

10. Having to read Beowulf in at least 3 courses.

11. Everyone thinks you are judging their grammar.

12. Being forced to take an unreasonable number of math and science courses.

13. With all the novels that you had to buy for class you have started a nice little library.
