The Life Of An Avid Snacker

I love food. I really do. But when it comes to meals, I don’t eat very much in one sitting. I’ve never been one for big breakfasts, fancy lunches or large dinners with multiple courses. My breakfast is satisfying if it's a cup of coffee and maybe a yogurt if I’m feeling extra hungry. And this cycle continues every hour or 2 where I feel the need to eat. People think I’m weird but I know there have to be other people out there that spend their days snacking...am I right? Well, here’s some thoughts I have as an avid snacker.

6 a.m. Where’s the coffee? I can’t even think about food before I smell the coffee brewing.

6:45 a.m. chug said cup of coffee and make another cup to go.

7 a.m. *running out the door - okay kinda hungry, I’ll grab that muffin.

8 a.m. hmm I could go for a yogurt now that I’m settled at work.

This counts as a full breakfast now.

Lol, jk. I’ll be ready for some more carbs in a sec.

10:30 a.m I need a granola bar.

Yep, there’s what’s considered a decent breakfast over the course of a few hours.

12 p.m. Lunchtime? OMG. I’m starved. Where’s my sandwich?

But how am I so hungry? I feel like all I’ve done is eat this morning.

1:30 p.m. *Sitting in class minding my own business when my stomach makes the sound of a dying whale*.

Buy why? This makes no sense. It’s like I’m a bottomless pit.

3 p.m. Work time-snack-time...What's in the snack drawer?

Ohh goldfish, pretzels, cookies, popcorn. We should really invest in some fruits.

One time we made a pan of Rice Krispie treats just for a homework snack.

7 p.m. And then what did I have for dinner? Some sushi from Fred Meyer and more rice crispy treats.

Wash it down with wine and it’s a well-balanced meal.

11:30 p.m. A bowl of cereal sounds nice…

My tummy is tellin' me yes, but my mind is tellin' me no…Probably going to eat it, though.

It may be weird but I don’t think there is anything wrong with snacking all day long instead of neat concise meals at specific times during the day. While my snack choices could be better, I’m not concerned right now about it. Because what can I say? 12 little meals is waaay better than 3 big ones.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
