The end goal of many people in this world is to make something of themselves, to be remembered after death, to be noticed during life or even to get to a point where they are satisfied with the life they are living.
We are all living life as if there is something to reach for or some sort of ending that is in line but the only promised ending is death. Every day there are people silently struggling, young and old individuals have been slaves to the idea that they must participate in the illusion of gaining materialistic or visible success in order to increase their socioeconomic status, to accept themselves or to rank higher in the hierarchical system that society has created. A system where the individuals with the most wealth and high ranking jobs are displayed often in magazines, television and many other types of ways to reach the people striving to get to where they are. A system where everyone is trying to get to the top and be the best at what they do.
People are willing to sacrifice the best years of their lives for money or trying to equal up to others. The commonly used expressions “I want to live to the fullest” or “you only live once” are often fueling the fire. The fear of death often causes people to become mindless drones who do nothing but work hard while striving to live a great life before they checkout.
Centuries of programming have been laid upon us forcing us to believe that we are marginalized individuals in a society where the main goal should be to become un-marginalized. We are often informed that we are not special and that we are going to have to work very hard or become very intelligent to get there. No matter what we do and no matter where we go in the world the ego will accompany us. The human ego often feeds off of this information and begins to always see some sort of problem with everything that you do. So we begin to look to educational institutions and organizations to tell us that we are special or that we have some sort of higher purpose when in reality your higher purpose is within yourself.
You are the center of your universe; your purpose does not lie in anything or anyone but you.
When you begin using this way of thinking, obtaining success is easy. You realize that you have always had it. It is just a matter of relieving yourself from the large-scale way of thinking you have been conditioned to believe where you are racing to succeed in a mission of being an individual who is above others of above him or herself. The contributions of your inner workings and of life all around you is what makes you successful; this means that simply being alive is your success, that is the meaning of living.
Through simply existing, you are a powerful organism in connection with everything. We are taught to consistently look forward to the future and never taught to account ourselves for what we have in the here and the now. Things like: the miracle of our vision that allows us to see the elegant display of color and form, or our ears that give us the opportunity to hear the art of music and language, our inner organs, nature or the universe that unconsciously keep us alive without any of our efforts, or even the bundle of nerves we call our brain letting us get the opportunity to experience it all.
I have never heard a lesson from any form of “life coach,” “motivator” or "mentor" that told us to rely on matters such as nature or the human organism for success. This message is not taught in the educational system or the work force. Instead, they drive us toward always improving ourselves as if there is something wrong with us, and we are often rewarded for it through promotions, going up grade levels or with a short-term feeling of being appreciated.
There is nothing wrong with wanting success in this matter, though. It is without a doubt one of the things that I believe to be human nature. In any situation that you get into, no matter how good, the ego will always invade by letting you know you can do better or that there is something wrong. It is impossible to go forth in life with the belief that nothing more than your beliefs make you successful ego is needed to do so. The best thing to do with the situation we have been given is to take a moment to relieve ourselves of our busybodied-ness, relax our minds, take a deep breath and watch what is happening. Upon doing this, we will see the beauty of the world around us and realize that the great things you do are already happening.
