When I first woke up this morning, I was so excited that it was finally the weekend.
With no school until Monday, and beautiful sun shining through your windows, I think the last thing people want to see when they log into Twitter, Instagram, or Tumblr is another picture resembling 2015's "#TheDress".
This time, it's "#TheJacket". People either see a baby blue and white combo, while others see black and brown, or even a darker green and gold.
These are the top 4 reasons why this thing freaks me out.
1. It surfaces the internet EXACTLY a year after "#TheDress" controversy.
I think if it weren't for the same date, this "Jacket" trend would be a little different. People would be like "Ah, two for two in the same year, NBD."
But, with 16-year old Nina Penzo (Tumblr name poppunkblogger) posting this picture exactly 1 year after the #TheDress on February 26th, you begin to wonder if someone else is behind all of this and planned it out on purpose! The world may never know.
2. It's spreading like wildfire. Again.
When my younger sister first showed me the picture of #The Dress back in 2015, it hadn't really made the news yet. Younger teens (mostly female) on Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram were going nuts over it, but moms, dads, and even celebrities didn't really know about it yet. But, once media and news outlets picked up on it, that's when the whole world went absolutely CRAZY. With everyone arguing back and forth about what they saw, you began to second guess your eyesight! Now with "#TheJacket", it made the news INSTANTLY overnight, and this whole thing is spreading quicker than before.
3. There are more color combos that people can see.
While people either saw #TheDress as white & gold or black & blue, #TheJacket could range from blue & white, green & gold, black & brown, or even green & brown.
4. The real colors are actually baby blue and white.
I think this is the main reason why I'm freaked out about this thing -- because I see GREEN AND GOLD. I know, I know, I'm one of the few people who see this.
A recent Buzzfeed poll showed that 72% of people saw the dress as blue & white, while 10% believed it was black & brown. The other voters thought it could be green & gold or green & brown.
Eh, what can I say, people have their own ways of looking at things. And for anybody wondering, last year with #TheDress, I first saw it as blue & black (its actual colors), but then saw it as white & gold.
No matter what the colors are, we will still look back at these crazy memes and just laugh about them. But for now, retweet.
