Trust Me, Having A Positive Attitude Makes Life So Much Easier To Live Each Day

Life can be an absolute drag. Recently, there have been a lot of changes going on in my life. It has been difficult for me to process them and therefore I have been struggling. However, after a good crying session, I feel much better. I feel like I'm in a good headspace to knock out my finals and get everything done that I need to. Having a positive attitude makes life so much easier to live each day. Experiences and mishaps are much easier to deal with mentally because I am looking on the bright side.

How does one simply have a positive attitude?

I heavily believe in choice. I think that while certain circumstances can weigh a person down it is ultimately up to them on how they cognitively appraise the situation. This determines their outlook on their circumstances and life as a whole and can greatly dictate whether tomorrow is going to be a good day or a bad day. Getting in the right mindset is important in staying resilient to what life throws at you. I think that in order to have a positive attitude, you must choose to have one. You must perceive situations and life in a way that you can tackle them and succeed rather than as clouds of negativity that will never pass.

How does one maintain a positive attitude?

Life has no mercy on what it throws at you and the timing of such obstacles. With this in mind, it may be difficult to maintain a positive attitude consistently. This is okay! We wouldn't be alive if we didn't experience the full spectrum of emotions. If you need to cry, then cry. However, making sure that you are always doing your best to cognitively appraise situations in a positive and manageable way is important in maintaining your overall happiness. It is very easy to go down the black hole of negative thoughts, which end up becoming negative actions (e.g. lack of eating, insomnia, lack of effort) that reinforce these negative thoughts and feelings. It can be tough to break the cycle. However, if you can identify your negativity right away, then you are on the right step towards embracing a positive attitude.

Why is it important to have a positive attitude?

It is so very important to have a positive attitude as to how we perceive life's events is ultimately what dictates how satisfied we are with ourselves and our circumstances. Taking control of your health is necessary in order to prevent burnout, mood swings, bad eating habits, etc. In order to succeed and feel good about yourself, others, and life, you must try your hardest to be resilient with a positive attitude. Building a fortress of positivity will take you far in life and good karma will return your way. Go do what makes you happy and never stop striving for greatness! You can do it. I believe in you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
