Out With Top Gear And In With The Grand Tour

Picture 11 year old boy, just browsing YouTube looking for car videos. Being that YouTube was quite new at the time, content for car enthusiasts was quite scarce. That was until I stumbled upon a video of Jeremy Clarkson Reviewing the Vauxhall Monaro VXR. This peaked my interest, and I soon found the show known as Top Gear!

Top Gear originally aired in the mid 1970s in Norther England as a once a week special show about cars. Since 2002 when it was revamped to the style we all know today, it has grown a massive following! Nearly 320 million people around the world watch Top Gear. To put that into perspective, that's the estimated population of the entire United States! I personally found the show to be a sort of therapy, no matter what was going on I knew I could go to Top Gear to distract myself from whatever else was happening.


Clarkson himself has said that the show is three middle aged men falling over and catching fire, saying this both about Top Gear and The Grand Tour, but to me it goes a little deeper than that. The three presenters have this chemistry that no other factual TV show can accomplish, it's incredible they haven't killed each other yet.

Now onto The Grand Tour! The reason the three, Clarkson, Hammond and May don't present Top Gear is quite astonishing. 2015 for Jeremy Clarkson was a textbook terrible year, from the divorce between him and his long time wife, and his mother passing away, things were not exactly working in his favor, so after an argument and after Clarkson punched one of the producers in the face (not joking, look it up) his contract for Top Gear with the BBC was not renewed. The trio ended up not renewing their contracts and have worked to Create the Grand Tour.

As far as the new show (The Grand Tour), it is the return of Top Gear! The three have nailed their chemistry and are better than ever. I'll spare the details of the show because I want you all to experience it for yourselves.



So my final words? Get Amazon prime, or as a friend for their account information and indulge in the Greatness that is The Grand Tour!
