My friend,
Our situation is not ideal, but nothing, even hundreds of miles, will keep you from being one of the most important people in my life. We may not see each other every day, every month, or even every year, but even the occasional text or phone call makes my day. I know I can always count on you to be excited about things happening in my life, even if you have no idea what I am talking about. However, even the 2 hour FaceTime calls don't change how hard it was to leave you. I know that you and I will always have the memories, the little inside jokes, and guaranteed laughs about that one person who changed our lives (even if it wasn't always being changed in a positive way). I know that I will hopefully get to see you in person again someday, but I will always remember our time together.
I want you to remember that you can always call me, even if it's 3 a.m.
You should know that even when we are impossibly far apart, you are always in my heart, and in my thoughts, and always welcome to come crash at my place if you need to. In a short time, I got to know you, you became more than a friend, you became someone I thought of as family, someone who I could rely on. You are one of the most amazing people that I have ever met, and I, at times, regret leaving just because I had to leave you behind, but of course, you are so amazing and you know that even if I left you, leaving was the best option for me. You are so understanding and you made my life better when I was not at the best point.
You are one of the best people in my life, and I want to make sure you know that you will always be loved by me and by my family.
I want you to know that no matter how many miles, how many time zones, and how many mixed-up opposite schedules there are between us, I will always cherish what time we have to talk, the time we have to plan a million road trips, and planning petitions to move our cities closer together. Every moment we have changed everything, and at some point, we will be able to see each other again.
Even if you aren't in the same state like me, you and I have never been closer.
I always want to hear about your stories from being a full-time worker, or from going to class, or your new achievements, and especially the updates on your new tattoos, and fun stories about your roommates, that will never compare to the stories from when we first met. I know that if we hadn't had that one special person in our life (I know you know who I am talking about) we would have never been so close, and so near inseparable. To this day, being so far away from you has made things hard, and certainly limits the amount of fun that we can have, but I love you always.
Love,
Alex
