Life as a teacher is anything but a typical job. As an educator, you have to solve problems that most other adults with Bachelor's Degrees would never dream of encountering on a daily basis. We are wizards of content knowledge, the professionals of pedagogy. We have the power to turn boring topics into fascinating and engaging learning experiences. Teaching is a labor or love. The students are the reason why we wake up in the mornings and the reason why we need to take the work home with us; it is the greatest job in the world! Needless to say, the job takes a toll on you mentally, physically and emotionally. That’s why there are three things in this world that every teacher holds dearly: May, June and July. That’s right, these three sweet words are beacons of light for all of the teachers who do a year’s worth of work in 10 months.
With that being said the lingering anticipation of the upcoming school year has the tendency to stir up a whirlwind of emotions. Not only does one have to cope with the death of summer (R.I.P. Summer 2k16) but it is also time to face the harsh realities that grown adults need to work for a living.
