Summer is quickly winding down, and as people begin to move back into their dorms and start purchasing books the first day of classes looms like a heavy cloud on the horizon. Once the first day begins, you'll be counting down your days until you're back home for Thanksgiving break in three months. Once the first week of school is over, the days will fly by and you'll be home for Christmas before you know it. That being said, here is the first week of classes as told by Parks and Rec.
1. The day before classes begin:
Usually by the time classes start up again, you're semi-ready for it. You've had fun for the past three and a half months and while going back to school isn't the best way to end an awesome summer, it gives you something to do. While you may not be as happy to go back to school is as Leslie is whenever she eats a waffle, you'll still feel kind of excited.
2. The morning of the first day:
While you may be ready to go back to school and get back in the groove, waking up early is definitely not something you were prepared for. Staying up until 5 a.m. all summer was definitely the worse thing you could have done. You have a lot of early mornings ahead of you so get used to it.
3. While You're Sitting in Class:
The first day is going to consist of your professors going over the syllabus and sometimes they even read it word for word. By the time you're done for the day, you aren't going to want to hear anyone speak ever again.
4. Once you're home for the day:
By the time you're done with class for the day, you're going to be feeling emotionally drained. Even though you just sat in some classrooms and listened to someone talk, you feel as though you worked out for three hours. Not to mention the fact that you have to do it all again the next day.
However, at the same time, you're going to be so excited to just lay back in bed and do nothing that you don't really care that you still have four days left to get through.
5. Midweek:
By the time you hit the middle of the week, you'll be over it. You'll want to fast forward 10 years so you're no longer in school and can just have a job and be done with it. By this point, you've started to do work in your classes and you either realize how much you love it or how much you hate it. This is usually around the time when you realize how many people in your class you just do not like. Hang in there, it's going to be a long semester.
6. Friday Morning:
By the time Friday rolls around, the fact that the weekend is only a few hours away is the only thing helping you to survive. There will most likely be a huge party that weekend, and that's all you have planned. That and sleeping.
7. Friday Night/The First Weekend:
Once Friday night starts, the weekend finally begins and you will not want to waste a second of it. Whether you plan on going out to a party, laying in bed with Netflix and snacks, or just having a good time with friends, you will regret 99 percent of your decisions come Monday morning.
Just remember that the start of school is always the worst of the year. Once you get through it, you'll be so used to the people in your classes, the early mornings, and the boring classwork, you'll be able to block it all out like a pro. Before you know it, you'll be back home in December for Christmas gearing up for the start of the spring semester.
