School is out and July 4th is right around the corner. This means all the kids are packing up their backpacks with towels, sunscreen and camp t-shirts to enjoy a glorious eight weeks at summer camp. And if you're lucky enough to be working at such a place over the summer, you will quickly learn that camp is both the place you love to hate, and hate to love.
1. You have to talk to parents and somehow convince them you are perfectly capable of taking care of their kids.
2. You're trying to get your campers' names right, but Katy and Heather just look so alike.
3. You tell yourself you're going to bring nice healthy lunches for an extra energy kick.
4. But the chicken nuggets and mac and cheese are too irresistible.
5. The last thing you want to do is strap on that one-piece bathing suit.
But that suspiciously warm pool water is a nice relief from the heat.
6. The afternoon slump kicks in and all you want is an iced coffee.
But your only option is lemonade.
7. Then the kitchen staff starts handing out bomb pops and everything's okay again.
8. It seems oddly quiet at home without screaming kids.
9. But before you know it, morning is here and you get to do it all over again.
10. You're getting paid to act like a fool, but who cares? You're at camp.
