The feeling of getting pulled over is not always an exciting time. There are a million thoughts going through your mind when you see those red and blue lights flashing behind you and you have to pull over on the side of the road. Your nerves are going through the roof as the cop is coming to your truck to talk to you. When they get to the window, you try and stay calm. When he or she asks for your license and registration in the back of your mind you are thinking where is my registration and is it up-to-date? You open up your glove box and pull it out and hand it over to the police. He says “I will be back.”
The time it takes him to get back with you feels like forever. As soon as he comes back, you are very anxious to see what he has for you. He then asks you if you could step outside of your truck and come to the back of it to talk. You are shaking like a leaf getting out of the truck because you have no idea what is coming next. He then tells you what the speed limit is and tells you how fast you are going. In the back of your head you are saying, “I was not going that fast.” He then explains what your ticket is for and when you will have to either pay it or go to court. He then makes you sign the ticket, shakes your hand, and says “drive safe.”
You get back into your truck and look over the ticket and see that your registration was good. There are little thoughts racing through your head about what your parents are going to say about your mistake. You feel better that it is over, but you still have a feeling of guilt. Whether it is speeding, running a stop sign, or having a headlight out, getting pulled over is not fun. Next time you will be more aware of how fast you drive.
