September has arrived, and we are only a couple weeks away from the beginning of the fall season. Many are sad about this change because the summer has ended, kids have to return to school, and New Englanders have to begin worrying about Nor’Easters before the winter season even begins. Barring any surprise snow storms, here are ten reasons why you should be excited for the fall season.
1. The weather is, at times, perfect
The fall season is a great time of year because it is the middleman in terms of what you need to wear. It isn’t 90 degrees out, but at the same time we haven’t reached sub-zero temperatures which force you to bundle up. Sweatshirt season rocks!
2. T’is the season!
Many restaurant chains roll out their fall flavors when the season is upon us. Pumpkin spice, anyone?
3. Candy
With fall comes the excitement of Halloween and piles of delicious candy. Hey, even though some neighborhoods cater the event towards our youth, many of us are still young at heart, right? Go for it! Or take some of your sibling’s.
4. Apple Everything
Fall is the time of year when apples are ripe and ready for picking. Whether it be apple pie, apple crisp, apple cider, or the Apple iPhone, you’ll see apples emerge into all sorts of treats!
5. For many school has returned
Am I off my rocker? For many the fall brings yet another year of school. No one likes the idea of summer having ended, however it’s honestly quite nice to see all of those friends whom you hadn’t gotten the chance to catch up with all summer. It's almost like a brand new world we are woken back up to each fall, and it feels refreshing minus the fact that some of us have to once again wake up at early hours in the morning.
6. Football
I believe football deserves its own category. It's the sport that starts near the fall and, with the exception of the NFL and College, ends in the fall. While some people are die-hard fans of the game and some people wish it would be gone forever, it's a sport that can bring people together. If you have a team at your school, go to a game with your friends! Just because you have no clue what is happening in the game doesn’t mean they won’t appreciate your support. The energetic atmosphere of football games are what make the sport so special.
7. Turkey Day
Perhaps the most exciting part of the fall season, a day where you can feast on delicious turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, etc. Enjoy the day with the people whom you keep closest.
8. The Festivities
This may vary on where you live, but many cities and towns hold special events which only come around once a year. Personally, my city holds an annual "holiday stroll" where thousands of people gather to walk around the city with their friends and family and can enjoy some tasty favorites such as hot chocolate and apple cider. It's an event that only happens once a year, which makes it all the more fun and special.
9. Warmth
Wait what? The summer is warm, not the fall! I’m not talking about the heat of the sun, I am referring to the type of warmth that comes from a warm apple cider while cozying up in a blanket. Sure it’s freezing outside, but this feeling on the inside is bliss.
10. Hats
Let’s be honest, knit hats are the best. They are so warm and they come in so many different styles! It’s too bad some schools frown on wearing them.
11. It’s Beautiful
Perhaps the best reason fall is so wonderful is because at this time of year mother nature is lookin’ fine. Leaves change in their color and a walk through the park turns into a beautiful experience.
Though here in New England the fall is often short lived courtesy of snow and winter weather, the fall season is here and it's time to enjoy!
