The End Of The Semester As Told By 'Scandal'

As the month of April begins, many college students begin to anxiously await the last day of the semester. In the meantime, if you happen to be a resident of Shondaland, the beginning of April is also a significant time in your life. Much like the college student, you are anxiously awaiting the end of something, this "Scandalous" season of TV drama. Shonda’s 9 p.m. Thursday night block consists of the hit TV drama "Scandal", which in fact perfectly tells the story of a student nearing the end of the semester.

1. Having No Motivation What-So-Ever

As I wake up every day, I realize just what Mellie Grant felt when she went through her Bathrobe and Fried Chicken phase. If you can not go to an event wearing in your two day old pajamas, bunny slippers and with food in your hands, then there is really no point in going. The last few weeks of the semester feel like an eternal death full of exhaustion and pure laziness.

2. Registering For Classes

For the most part, registering for classes next semester and getting to pick your schedules is always exciting. That is until you look at how much those classes will cost. You have tuition, the credit overage fee, housing, dining, books and honor societies. In college you even feel like they charge extra if you breathe, cough or walk a little to slow across the green. Plus it makes you rethink your break plans and makes you wonder if you should start starving now. To Fitz, having Olivia is like paying for a semester of college.

3. Opening Blackboard

There is nothing worse than Blackboard. With just one look, it can ruin your weekend plans, send you into an uncontrollable emotional spiral and add a 10,000 hours of work to your already hectic schedule. The only thing worse than Blackboard is Blackboard nearing the end of the semester. More grades are put in and there is less you can do to change them. More assignments are put in and the less time you have to complete it. Opening it up on your computer is always a moment of dread and a moment of pure fear.

4. Trying To Keep It Together

Trying is the key word in that sentence. Trying is also the only thing that matters. You remind yourself to get good grades, not make dumb decisions and to take it one day at a time thinking that its almost over and soon enough you will not have to be so good.

5. The Pain

As the last day approaches, the weeks get longer. This is to the point that your body aches from the burnout. Your brain is fried. Your soul is just crushed into pieces. The end of the semester much like a "Scandal" finale is more painful than enjoyable.

6. The Attacking Normal Phase

In the middle of the stress, you receive a phone call from home, your roommate wants to talk or you simply need to go out in public and be presentable and you are forced to act normal. You answer the, "How's school going?" question with a smile and, "Great!" while on the inside trying not to cringe at the mention of the word "school." Similar feeling to how Olivia and Fitz must feel.

7. The End Of Semester

Than the last day finally arrives and you can't help but smile, celebrate and feel like a gladiator in a suit!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
