We are coming to the end of the semester and next stop is summer. If we look back on our past two semesters, we are reminded by the emotions we felt at the time. Whether we were stressed or full of happiness, we will always be reminded on how we felt due to the memories we have created. Inside Out perfectly describes how we may have felt in our past semesters.
1. Joy
The feeling of Joy when we reunite with our friends after summer. Happiness when we finish a huge assignment or receive a good grade. Having plans on the weekend to relieve stress and gives us a chance to refocus on the things that we have to accomplish. It is always important to make sure we stay happy in college because it will make the experience more enjoyable even though it will get hard at times.
2. Sadness
This emotion is the probably the second most common feeling that we encounter. We get sad when we leave home for the first time. It gets worse throughout the semester because we aren't adjusted and may have not found new friends quite yet. We get sad when we like someone who doesn't like us back. We even get sad when we feel hopeless, but Joy will always remind us of what our ultimate goals are. It's okay to have mental breakdowns when there are piles of assignments on us.
3. Disgust
Dorm style living and residential dining isn't necessarily our favorite. From personal experience of living in a freshman dorm, it was pretty scary to look at the bathrooms. Some people would think that girls are clean. Man, did they think wrong. The dining hall has its moments, but most of the time it is just really unhealthy and non appealing.
4. Anger
We definitely feel angry quite a bit. We feel angry when the roommate leaves the light on. We get mad when the professor assigns an project two days before it is due. We even get mad when the professor says "your final won't be graded". Whats the point of even taking it then? Anyways, we have to interact with people a lot and we are easily irritated. After long enough, we lose our cool and freak out. It's the stress, right?
5. Fear
The fear of the future is among college students. After graduation, students need to think about whether they are going to attend graduate school or move onward to the real world. Sure, you have plenty of time to think about these things. However, it is good to plan ahead for the future. We also have a fear of failing classes or doing horrible on finals. Fear can just be a way of telling us to be more cautious.
Overall, our emotions have had many moments in our past few semesters. Joy is always there to pull us together and continue on with our lives. Always remember the good memories when you are feeling doubtful or angry. We will look back and realize that our emotions got us through tough times.
