Slow texters may possibly be the worst thing in the world. At least in the moment. There's nothing more annoying than sending a risky or important text and having to wait an hour for a reply. It's even worse when the slow responder is the person who texted you first. Here are the emotional stages of waiting for a text back.
1. When you first send the message.
When you're in the middle of a conversation and you hit send, you expect a reply fairly quickly. There's a confidence that a text message will be coming in within seconds.
2. When it's been a full minute.
After a full minute of waiting for a response, things start to get a little anxious. Especially when your conversation had previously been a constant back and forth that didn't even give you enough time to properly lock your phone.
3. When you plot your revenge.
After having to wait so long for a reply, I usually try to give them a taste of their own medicine and take just as long as they do. Disclaimer: it usually goes unnoticed.
4. After a whole five minutes of pretending you aren't annoyed.
Oh, so now you want to answer me after I've already made other plans and pinned your face to a dart board.
5. When it's been an hour or more of waiting for a reply.
For all they know, it could be an emergency and instead they're just ignoring me and taking their sweet time to respond. In reality, I probably just asked if they wanted to go to the diner but still...pancakes are important.
6. When they finally answer.
And you feel psychotic for counting down every single minute it took them to answer so you just pretend like it's totally fine.
